About the Handling of Personal Information

MIXI Global Investments, Inc. (hereinafter, the “Company”) will take the utmost care in managing the personal information entrusted to us. Unless otherwise specified, the meanings of the terms used below shall be as defined in the “Act on the Protection of Personal Information,” as amended (Act No. 57 of 2003).

1. Personal Information

“Personal information” means information relating to a living individual which falls under any of the following items:

Personal information of persons who have applied for employment at the Company

  • Information contained in resume, curriculum vitae, applications, and other documents submitted for employment screening. (Including information unrelated to recruitment that the candidate voluntarily submits.)
  • Name, address, phone number, e-mail address

Personal information provided by affiliated employment agencies, etc.

3. Purpose of Use of Personal Information

The Company will use personal information it has acquired for the following purposes of use.

Personal information of persons participating in events held by the Company

  • To hold and manage events such as social gatherings;
  • To request fees and expenses such as participation fees for events;
  • To contact the participant;
  • To send gifts as part of promotions, etc.;
  • For market research on events the Company will hold or is considering holding, etc., to analyze data on access to venues, interests, attributes, etc., to conduct questionnaire surveys, etc.;
  • To create statistical data that is processed so as to be non-personally identifiable.

Personal information of the Company’s business partners

  • For necessary business communications, the performance of contracts, business discussions, etc.;
  • To manage partner information.

Personal information of persons who have made inquiries to the Company

  • To respond to inquiries;
  • To consider holding events such as social gatherings.

Personal information of persons who have applied for employment at the Company

  • To provide information, contact, and issue notifications to the job applicant;
  • For employment screening.

Personal information provided by affiliated employment agencies, etc.

  • To provide information, contact, and issue notifications about the Company's recruitment;
  • For employment screening.

4. Measures for Managing the Security of Personal Data Held by the Company

The Company will take measures to securely manage personal information and strive to prevent its leakage, etc. through the establishment and improvement of systems for protecting personal information, education and enlightenment activities targeting employees, management of entry and exit in areas where personal information is handled, control of access to personal information, introduction of antivirus software, and other information security measures. Additionally, the Company will ensure that it disposes of or deletes personal information that it will no longer retain in an appropriate manner.

5. Entrustment of Personal Data

The Company may entrust the handling of personal data it has acquired in whole or in part within the scope necessary to achieve the purpose of use. In that case, the Company will conclude the necessary contracts such as a basic contract on the entrustment of personal data and provide necessary and appropriate supervision of the company to which the Company has entrusted.

6. Provision of Personal Data to Third Parties

If the Company provides your personal data to a third party, the Company will specify the content of the provision and obtain your prior consent; provided, however, that this does not apply in the following cases:

  1. Provision based on laws and regulations;
  2. When there is a need to protect the life, wellbeing or property of an individual, and it is difficult to obtain your consent;
  3. When there is a special need to improve public wellbeing or promote healthy child development, and it is difficult to obtain your consent;

7. Procedure to Request Disclosure, etc. of Personal Data Held by the Company

The Company will respond to any request that you have made to notify you of the purpose of use, disclose (including disclosure of records of provision to third parties), correct/make additions/delete the content of, cease using, erase, or cease the provision to third parties, of your personal data held by the Company, without delay; provided, however, that the Company may elect not to disclose some or all of the data in the following cases:

  1. It is likely to harm your life, wellbeing, property or other rights and interests, or those of a third party;
  2. It is likely to seriously interfere with the proper implementation of business by the Company; or
  3. Disclosure would otherwise violate laws and regulations.

8. Acquisition and Use of Attribute Information and Behavior History, etc.

The Company may acquire and use non-personally identifiable information, such as the following, in order to make the services and advertising it provides more relevant to you. The Company may also provide such information to advertisers, information providers, service providers, etc. for similar purposes; provided, however, that if it is assumed that such information will be used by the recipient as personally identifiable data, then the Company shall only provide such information after confirming that your consent has been obtained:

  • Attribute information such as gender, occupation and age.

The Company's website uses Google's access analysis tool “Google Analytics” to understand the status of website usage. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect access data. This data is collected anonymously and is not personally identifiable. You may refuse such collection of data by disabling cookies. 9. Revision

The Company may revise this document “About the Handling of Personal Information” in whole or in part. The Company will announce any significant changes on the Company’s website.

11. Special Provisions Regarding People in India

Items of Personal Information to be Acquired for the purposes listed under 3. Purpose of Use of Personal Information . If you are the guardian of another person and are consenting on that person's behalf, you shall represent and warrant that you are authorized to legally consent on that person's behalf.

Inquiries”; however, such withdrawal will not affect any handling of personal information carried out before such withdrawal is made. Additionally, if you withdraw your consent, you may no longer be able to receive the services, etc. listed under 3. Purpose of Use of Personal Information.
